East Providence is the fifth biggest city in Rhode Island with nearly 50,000 residents. Located near the state capital, East Providence homes offer convenient access to shopping and dining, in addition to recreational activities that celebrate the city’s history, which dates back to the 1600s. Residents of East Providence enjoy a mix of city and suburban amenities in addition to the community’s great schools.

East Providence has a great variety of shopping and dining. A concentration of stores and restaurants can be found on Newport Avenue in the north of the city, including Burlington Coat Factory and Dunkin’ Donuts. Wampanoag Plaza houses Marshalls, Stop & Shop grocery, Savers thrift store, and more. Shopperstown has Shaw’s grocery, CVS, and D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches, a build-your-own chain. Dining ranges from American classics at Persy’s Place to Portuguese and Italian at Riviera Restaurant.
Travel in and around East Providence is simplified by I-95, which runs through the middle of the city. Public transportation is provided by the bus system. Residents of East Providence are served by the East Providence School District. Alternative education is provided by several private schools in the area. The Ivy League Brown University offers higher education just across the Seekonk River in Providence.
